The National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA) is an umbrella organization comprised of over 210 associations representing the unified voice of nearly 2.5 million Indian Americans, who trace their roots to India. NFIA was established in 1980 to conduct, coordinate, and promote activities directed towards the preservation of the values of Indian culture and to protect the rights of people of Indian origin in the United States. The NFIA accepts membership from all Indian Organizations without any regards to their regional, religious, professional, linguistic or political affiliation.
